Janis Gaye, a stylist, manager, and novelist who was Marvin Gaye’s second wife and the subject of several of his songs, passed away on December 3 at her home in Rhode Island. She had a 66-year-old age. Her children Nona and Frankie, her sister Shawnn Monteiro, her brother Mark Gaillard, and her grandson Nolan Pentz all survive her.
“I am profoundly devastated by the demise of my mother, Janis Gaye,” said Nona Gaye. She had a significant impact on many people’s lives, including mine. I think that once you met my mother Jan, you wouldn’t be able to forget her. She spoke from her spirit with every syllable. She was never unintentional in her speech. I am aware that from the time she was 17 until the day of her death, all of her motivation and influence was focused on her blood family as well as her extended family of brothers and sisters spread throughout this beautiful yet painful planet. She talked about her love for her husband, children, grandson, and the friends she made around the world every day she was here.
